Dunham Cooler

July 1952
Orange juice has a poor reputation among modern-day mixologists. It does tend to dominate whatever spirit it’s mixed with, but bourbon can actually stand up to it.

Place a long spiral peel of lemon inside a large Collins glass, letting one curl hang out over the rim. Put in the glass 2 ounces bourbon, 2 tablespoons orange juice, the juice of half a lemon, and plenty of ice. Fill the glass with ginger ale, stir, and serve.
