At this year’s Documenta, considered by many to be the most important contemporary art show in the world, Ferran Adrià will be among the other sculptors, painters, photographers, and variety of other artists whose work will be on display in Kassel, Germany. The names of the participating artists at Documenta is always a well-guarded secret, and the inclusion of Adrià, whose restaurant, El Bulli, is easily the world’s most highly regarded, is noteworthy because he’s the first chef ever invited to participate. Roger M. Buergel, Documenta’s artistic director, says Adrià“ has managed to create his own language, something that has turned into a very influential issue on the international scene. . . we should not relate art only with photography, sculpture, painting, neither with cooking in its most strict sense. But under certain circumstances, cooking can also be considered as an art.”
