Elvis loved Hawaii. He shot three films and a TV special, put on several concerts, and spent vacations there. One of his favorite hotels was Kauai’s Coco Palms resort (the wedding scene in Blue Hawaii was filmed there), which has been closed since Hurricane Iniki pummeled it, in 1992. This cocktail, which Jeff Berry, author of Sippin’ Safari told us about, was not something Elvis would have been likely to order at the hotel’s Lagoon Cocktail Terrace; he seems to have preferred pound cake to pounding drinks.
In a shaker 3/4 full of ice combine 1 ounce Cognac, 1 ounce Galliano, and 1/2 ounce lemon juice. Shake well and strain into a chilled saucer Champagne glass.
