A Mother’s Day Menu, and More

Mom’s the Word: Celebrate her with comedian Kathy Griffin, road-food experts Jane and Michael Stern, scrumptious recipes, and the best restaurant brunches

Oh, mothers! There’s so much we owe you, so much we’ve learned from you…like how to drink wine from a box, as is the case with comedian Kathy Griffin and her equally hilarious mom, Maggie. We’re kicking off this Mom’s the Word issue with “10 Questions for…” that dynamic duo. Clearly, humor runs in the family, as these two trade memories and riff on what Maggie’s really wishing for while she’s queen for a day.

Road-food aficionados Jane and Michael Stern share a tale of two other mothers you’ll want to get to know: Mom’s of Salina, Utah, and Mother’s restaurant of New Orleans (where you’re likely to get a Griffin-esque side of sass with your po’boy).

But all jokes aside, what are your special plans for the mom(s) in your life? If something homemade and delicious sounds right, turn to our newest Gourmet Modern Menu for a Mother’s Day brunch, featuring Eggs with Cream, Spinach, and Country Ham; Maple-Apricot Granola; and a Strawberry Dulce de Leche Tart. The recipes come complete with videos, in which Gourmet Live’s own dynamic duo of Kemp Minifie and Kelly Senyei take you step-by-step through each easy dish. And if you’d rather dine out on Mom’s special day, we’ve got you covered with a BlogHer Road Trip roundup of 10 great brunch spots across the country.
